Topic: Plextor
The new items published under this topic are as follows.
Plextor breathes new life into the dying breed that is DVD recorders (or at least we think they're dying, with Blu-ray and HD DVD right around the corner) by introducing the world's first 18x DVD±R burners. 18x is a rather odd number to have for optical recorders (from 16x you'd normally just go right on to 32x), but oh well.
Plextor has announced a black version of their 12x DVD+R drive supporting Serial ATA, and has also made some clarifications about how it won't work under certain chipsets.
Plextor was first to market with an 8x DVD+R, so it only makes sense that they are also first to market with 12x. Just like last (8x) time, it shouldn't be long now before we see the first 12x DVD-R, etc.. one of these drives is even Serial ATA.
On July 10th, Plextor introduced 2 DVD±R drives capable of writing DVD+R discs at 8x speed. The two devices are the ATAPI internal PX-708A, and the USB 2.0/IEEE 1394 external PX-708UF.
