KDDI is introducing a new service for AU handsets called "EZ Memory Pocket," which essentially takes the entire contents of your phone's phone book and automatically backs it up on their server. If you've ever lost your mobile, the importance of this service should be obvious. Moreover, you can use your PC to access this information and even edit its contents.
KDDI announced on the 16th that they will add automatic address book backup functionality to their "EZ Memory Pocket" handset backup service. Even if one were to lose their mobile phone, the newest address book information can be used once it is downloaded.
When the user's address book changes, only the changed data will be uploaded once in one day. The user can select what time this backup occurs. Though there are transfer charges, because the backup is conducted by a computer, they are "as little as possible."
AU will also strengthen their PC integration. Address books that have been backed up can be edited, but now users can also retrieve a one-time password for this using the EZ Memory Pocket application itself.
Both functions will be supported beginning with the unreleased "W32SA" (Sanyo) and "W31T" (Toshiba) handsets. The service will launch in conjunction with the launch of these handsets.
Furthermore, the address entries that can be saved has been expanded from 500 to 1,000. This will begin on June 21st.
EZ Memory Pocket can be used by going to "Top Menu," then "Search by EZ Service," then "EZ Memory Pocket." The service will begin at 105 yen per month.
