Title says it all... Victor Japan Corporation will begin selling DVD-R media supporting 8x writing on February 10th. There will be the single "VD-R47F," the printable 5 color label mix 5-pack "VD-R47X5," and the white printable label 5-pack "VD-R47PF5." While they are all open price, the R47 should go for around 600 yen, and both the R47XF5 and R47PF5 for around 2,500 yen.  This DVD media supports the newly adopted standard, "DVD-R for General Version 2.0 Optional Specifications 8x-speed DVD-R Revision 3.0." The capacity is 4.7GB. The discs use a highly advanced recording layer that reduces warping during recording, allowing for high precision even during 8x transfer rates of 88.64Mbps. This completely reduces the jitter and error rate. The color mix pack "VD-R47XF5" includes 5 different colors for seperating genres: blue, green, purple, orange, and silver. The R47PF5 has a white label. The label surface is printable via an inkjet printer, which means that it can be written on with a water based pen rather than an oil based one.
