Elecom now introduces their own fingerprint verification device, the "CR-FP1." Also on the table is the "CR-UK1," a portable USB security key. More information on each inside.
Elecom Corporation will release the "CR-FP1" fingerprint identification device and "CR-UK1" USB key in late April. The supported operating systems are Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP.
The "CR-FP1" is a fingerprint reader that supports login to Windows and other domains using fingerprints, as well as file encryption, screen saver and other PC locks. Its price is 9,975 yen.
The fingerprint information of up to 20 people can be stored, where the capabilities of each user can vary. Elecom has said that the unit has a 1 in 100,000 chance of mistaking a person for someone else, and a 1 in 100 chance of refusing the real person.
Its interface is USB, and it has a power consumption of under 70mA. The body size is 80 x 45 x 35mm (W x D x H). It includes a 1.8m USB cable.
The "CR-UK1" is a USB key that is used by plugging it into a PC's USB port. Its price is 5,775 yen.
It offers features such as the "PC Lock Function" where a system cannot be accessed if the device is not inserted, as well as the "Secret Hard Disk Function" where a virtual hard drive will not be displayed if the key is not inserted.
Its interface is USB, and it has a power consumption of under 70mA. It measures 18 x 82 x 14mm (same).
