A Terrestrial Digital Broadcast receiver from Matsushita. Pretty simple.
Matsushita Electrical Industries Corporation will begin selling the "TZ-DCH500" digital broadcast receiver on March 20th. It is intended for cable business companies, and in addition to BS/110CS digital broadcast signal capabilites, can playback the re-sent signals from via the terrestrial digital transmodulation function.
It is a set-top box which conforms to the terrestrial digital transmodulation standards as set forth by the Japan Cable Laboratory, known as "JCL SPEC-007." It can receive terrestrial digital signals to the HD, many channels, data receiving, EPG, etc..
[1] Users may also take advantage of the "T Navi" function to connect to the internet. Using an internal browser, CATV users can also create their own personal sites.
For input/output ports, there are 2x i.Link ports, 1x D4 output, 1x S2 Video output, 1x composite output, 1x optical digital port, and 1x analog 2ch audio port.
The external dimensions are 280 x 292 x 57 (W x D x H). Since it uses a new chassis, it is also 10mm thinner than older models. It is amongst the smallest class in the world. It weighs 1.7kg.
The included remote is the same as that in the Viera series - the "New Power Remote." In the upper left is the transmission changing button, and since it uses less buttons than older models, operation has become simpler.
