As an April Fool's Day joke, Sega announced the "Game Gear Goju." "Goju," or 50, refers to the number of screens the unit has. This is clearly a poke at the Nintendo DS, but it's certainly refreshing to see Japanese companies not taking themselves so seriously for once. Translation of the "product page" inside.

Product Name: Game Gear Goju
Release Date: November 27th, 2050
Price: 980 yen (including tax)

-Screens like never before! Implementation of 50 screens!

It has 50 screens, undermining the common sense of all game machines!

With the use of 50 screens, it is now possible to experience games in real-time from all kinds of angles. Though it is a portable game system, it can be viewed from an unheard of number of angles; utterly destroying the sense of reality created by home game consoles and even large arcade machines.

Using the unit's internal wireless LAN, up to 50 people can play simultaneously.

Each person's play screen will be displayed in realtime on one of the 50 screens.

Because of this, you can observe the activities of 49 rivals while honing your own strategy. Your gaming skills will increase on various fronts.

-Challenging the limits of price! Somehow, 980 yen (including tax)!

In order so that all customers who want to purchase can do so without having to worry about price, due to the zeal of the Sega Direct Staff, all manufacturing processes will be conducted by the Sega Direct Staff.

We were successful at drastically reducing the personnel expenses, allowing us to offer a final price of 980 yen (tax included).

-Fun for all ages!

Faced with an aging society, after the "easy to read character" planning was completed, single characters can be display on one screen at a time for all text that appears in games.

By simply changing to the "Text: Enormous" setting, a single character will display on the entire 3.2 inch LCD. With this, there is no worry about being unable to see small characters.

Also, so that children can play the system easily, simply changing to the "Text: Extremely Hiragana" setting will allow all Kanji characters in-game to be displayed as Hiragana. Children can enjoy games without having to worry.

-World's longest! World's heaviest!

The "Game Gear Goju" features a size simply unobtainable by other gaming devices. The vertical length is the world's longest, at about 4.7 meters.
If you play with a game device of this length while in the city, the glances of passer-bys will unmistakenly be drawn to you!

Continuing, the weight of this unit is the world's heaviest for a handheld, at 5.5 kilograms.
You can kill two birds with one stone as you build your arm muscles and fight off insufficient exercise.
