I'm pretty sure I've seen this sort of thing somewhere else, but oh well. Here's the "DISPY 2," a burner for taking digital camera images from memory cards and plopping them on a CD-R/RW. All without the use of a PC.
Another feature of the unit is support for playback of a few different media formats, such as MP3, MPEG-1/2, and JPEG.
Green House Corporation will be releasing the "DISPY 2" multi-storage device that can copy data from memory cards to CD-R/RW without the use of a PC, in early April. It is Open Price, but estimates dictate it will cost around 24,800 yen.
The DISPY 2 is a CD-R/RW drive that can copy data from memory cards to CD-R/RW easily. It can also be connected to a PC via USB 2.0, and used as an external CD-R/RW drive or memory card reader. Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, XP, and Mac OS X 10.1.3 and above. An optional lithium ion battery can be used for power.
On the right hand side of the unit are two card slots. The memory cards that can be inserted into these slots are CF Type 1/2, Memory Stick, SD Memory Card, SmartMedia, and MMC. With the use of adapters, it can also accept miniSD and Memory Stick Duo.
A TV output function is also included, for displaying the images and videos stored on memory card or CD-R/RW. Supported formats are JPEG, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. Slideshow, thumbnail, and image zoom/reduce functions are all controlled using the included remote. Audio output is also possible, where MP3 playback is supported.
The maximum write speed for CD-R is 24x, and for CD-RW, 10x. Both read at a maximum of 24x. Supported formats are CD-DA, CD-ROM, CD-ROM XA, Photo CD (Multi-session support), Video CD, CD Extra, CD TEXT, CD-R, CD-RW, and High Speed CD-RW.
On the front part of the unit is an LCD monitor, which will display capacity and copy progress of memory card or media. Also available is a "CD Spanning Function" to automatically copy data onto two different discs when there is more than 650MB or 700MB of data to be copied. Finally, a "Copy Check Function" verifies the copy completed properly.
The body measures 157 x 184 x 33mm (W x D x H), and weighs 633g.
