The CRASH / The CRASH!
Posted by zmcnulty on Mar 17, 2005 - 05:45 PM

Lesson learned: DO NOT turn on your heater while your cell phone is still sitting on it.

Victim:
Saiun from Toyama Prefecture

Scene of Accident:
My house

Broken Item:
au A5503SA

Details of Accident:
After studying in my room, I took a bit of a nap. Before doing so, however, I put my cellular phone on my gas heater (at the time, it was not on). I woke up in the middle of the night thinking I should study a bit of math, and having completely forgotten I put my phone on it, turned on the heater. A number of minutes later, I noticed that something was burning from that special smell; I looked around my room, and discovered my melting cell phone.

Damage Amount:
Because of this incident, I changed carriers -- the original contract fee is 1,400 yen and the au lease cancellation fee is 3,000 yen.

More from the Contributor:
If you exclude the melted body, antenna that doesn't extend and battery with a now extremely short life, there really isn't much damage. The screen is also fine. However, the recharging plug jack is a bit funny; it is very hard to charge, so I got a new one. I sort of liked this phone because it was easy to use. Also, there was the emotional damage.
