Sanko Ltd.'s o­nline shop "Rare Mono Shop" will release a HD case-type player, the "NOAX HDD Player" on January 22nd, which is capable of playing DivX, MPEG, and other files. For just the case itself is 14,800 yen, and the model including a 20GB HD costs 29,800 yen. Supported operating systems are Windows ME, 2000, and XP.

The "NOAX HDD Player" is a USB 2.0 HD case which includes the capabilites to decode DivX (5.0/4.0/3.0), MPEG, MP3, JPEG, etc.. When used with a 2.5 inch/9.5mm thick hard drive, it will playback the video contents. It was developed by Hong Kong's Vernco Technology.

Video output is with 1x composite jack, and audio output 1x analog audio. Instead of having a screen o­n the main unit, it is connected to a TV and can be operated via an included remote. It can also be connected to a PC like a USB store unit, making for easy drag-and-drop transfer of files (English file names o­nly).

Power is from an AC Adapter. The external dimensions are 131 x 80 x 19mm (W x D x H) and it wieghs 215g without the case.
