The paperless office used to be the object of dreams. Since the advent of the personal computer, we have since used more paper than ever before.
The mobile office used to be the object of dreams. Since the advent of the laptop computer, we have struggled with lugging around printers over hills, into canyons, and onto subways.
Thankfully, Canon has made improvements... if they could just get an OL into a briefcase.

Canon has announced that it will start selling its A4 size mobile printer, the PIXUS iP90 from the end of February. While it is open price, retail stores are expecting it to sell for around 30,000 yen.
The PIXUS iP90 replaces the PIXUS 80i, which went on sale in March 2004. Besides AC power, it can also use a battery while on the go and can print up to A4 size paper. It supports Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS X 10.2.1 and after.
The main difference between the 80i is the change to BCI-16 ink. By using the ink and the right kind of photo quality paper, it’s possible to print durable, long lasting (they claim 100 years) pictures, ChromaLife 100. As a photo printer, the color ink CMY comes in one cartridge, while SELPHY DS700 ink is used for the black ink.
The printer interface supports both USB and IrDA 1.1, the same as the 80i. Pictures can also be beamed from a mobile phone to the printer via infrared port. It also supports Bluetooth devices with the BU-10 device (8,500 yen), which also works with the 80i. Canon’s PictBridge feature is also supported.
Maximum resolution is 4,800 x 1,200 dpi and the minimum ink droplet size is 2pl. The black nozzle features 2 x 160 jets, while the color features 128 x 2 x 3, for a total of 1,088 jets. The maximum print speed is 16ppm for monochrome and 12ppm for color.
The printer supports various types of photo paper.
In addition to the use of ink-saving technology for black ink, there’s also a improved way of combining the color and black ink. Also the monochrome printing speed has also been improved.
The printer measures 31 x 174 x 51.8mm, it weighs 1.8 kg. It operates at a maximum of 40db.
The CK-51B, a lithium-ion rechargeable battery and charger set, which also works with the 80i and 90i series is now available for 15,800 yen.
