What first attracted me to this article was a new PSP case, perhaps one that's actually worth a damn. If you read my PSP Audio/Video report [1], you probably recall that I'm not a huge fan of the "sleeve" that's included with the PSP Value Pack.
Anyway, the "PS Pictogram" brand remains somewhat mysterious, but what we do know is that the first round of products includes baggage and accessories developed in collaboration with "PORTER." Most of them seem to be overpriced brand items...but hey, it's Japan. Since when did overpricing keep products from being successful? Just take a look at the iPod.
Sony Computer Entertainment Corporation (SCEJ) announced the establishment of a new "PS Pictogram" brand. The first round of products, in collaboration with "PORTER," will be bags and accessories. Sales will begin on February 1st.
"Pictogram" means "Pictogram" (translator's note: obviously the Japanese sentence translated the English to Japanese, but yeah...), and the "PS Pictogram" brand is appointed with the "T O X S" (triangle, circle, x, square) of the Playstation controller. In order to spread this mark to the public, Sony will develop and sell products with this mark through "PS Pictogram."
The first round of products for "PS Pictogram" includes bag and accessory products through collaboration with "PORTER." on "PORTER" bags and accessories, renowned for their practicality and design, cloth with the "T O X S" mark is used. As the products are intended to be transported, there has been an importance placed on affinity with the PSP. The bags have pockets to store the PSP, and there will also be a PSP-exclusive case for sale.
Playstation.com Japan will begin accepting preorders for each product from January 14th. Because they are limited edition, and first-run production quantities will be limited, it would behoove those who desire the products to reserve them early.
Update: The "PSP Case" will not be available for preorders. Sony will begin preorders for the next round of products on January 25th.
