Tokyo Forex Financial has a new portable hard drive that has Linux already installed on it. It's USB, so by just plugging it into a computer that can boot from USB, you've got an instant Berry Linux or Knoppix installation. Tokyo Forex Financial will release a portable hard drive with Linux installed on November 20th. Its nickname is the "Linasis Pocket Penguin." If it is used on a PC that can boot from USB, Linux will boot. It is intended to be used as a portable Linux system. As the Linux distributions, there are two models, where one features a Japanese edition of KNOPPIX 3.6, and the other a Red Hat-type single CD Linux called Berry Linux, which was developed by a Japanese person. The disk capacity is 20GB, and 10GB have been assigned to Linux. The remaining 10GB can be used as a typical portable hard drive. Transcend's "StoreJet" utility software is included. Using the Pocket Penguin as a hardware key, any PC can be made to use it by simply connecting the hard drive, encrypted files can be accessed only when the drive is plugged in, and Outlook Express environments can be transported. However, StoreJet only operates on Windows. It cannot be used on Linux. The price is 29,400 yen. It will be sold on the Tokyo Forex Financial homepage and 7dream.com.
