Elecom has decided to enter the digital AV market and their first product is a standalone CD recorder, the "PLEO-01". It will go on-sale from mid November at a price of 25,200 yen. The PLEO-01 makes it extremely simple to create a copy of a music or data CD for backup purposes. As an added bonus, the recorder also conforms to the SCMS (Serial Copy Management System) standard so you can't inadvertently make multiple copies of your music collection. Isn't that a relief?!
Elecom will begin sales of the "PLEO CONCEPT-1 (PLEO-01)" music CD recorder from mid November at a price of 25,200 yen.
Adopting the concept of "Digital is simple", Elecom enters the digital AV market with this product. Future products will also be developed under the "PLEO" brand, which is an acronym of "PC Less Easy Operation".
The "PLEO-1" is the company's first product - a small form-factor CD recorder that allows backup of data CDs and recording of audio CDs without a PC. Two 30mm full-range stereo speakers (500mW output) allow the unit to be used as a CD player. It is also equipped with a digital optical out and and a headphone jack.
Music CD-R/RWs are used for recording of music CDs. Recording can be performed at single- or double-speed with simultaneous playback and recording possible for single-speed operation. CD recording or copying is simple - 1) insert an original music/data CD, 2) insert a blank music/data CD for recording and 3) press the desired button to set the recording speed and commence recording. The recorder conforms to the SCMS (Serial Copy Management System) standard.
Power is supplied by an AC adapter. The recorder has external dimensions of W249 x D178 x H89 mm and weighs 2 kilograms.
