I'm a bit sidetracked watching the voting results come out, but here's two new phones intended for the Chinese market from NEC. The first is the "N940" which is the country's first phone capable of receiving TV broadcasts, and the "N840" with a 2MP camera. Nippon Electronics (Corp.) announced two new phones on November 1st, both intended for the Chinese GSM/GPRS market: the "N940" support TV broadcast reception, and the "N840" features a 2MP digital camera.    According to NEC, the "N940" is China' first cellular phone capable of receiving TV broadcasts, and allows for up to 60 minutes of continuous TV viewing -- it can also be used horizontally. Chinese character input via a touch panel display is also possible, and the phone is operated by tapping shortcut icons using the included stylus pen; this configuration is also used for making calls and sending/receiving emails. The display is a 2.1" 260,000 color screen, and when viewing TV broadcasts in horizontal mode, they can be displayed "fullscreen." It also contains a .3MP camera, which can record 18 consecutive images and movies. The included internet browser supports WAP 1.2.1, and the Java support is MIDP 2.0. Sizes of the unit are a 51.5mm width, 20.7mm depth, and 101.5mm height. It has a weight of 112g. The continuous talk time is 120 minutes, and the continuous idle time is 200 hours. Two body colors will be available: black and silver.    The "N840" features a 2MP CMOS digital camera (with 6x digtal zoom function). It is furnished with a miniSD slot for removable memory, and can be used as an MP3 player. Furthermore, it supports connection to a PC by either Bluetooth or USB. The main display is a 2.2" TFT LCD capable of displaying 260,000 colors, and the subdisplay is a 1" screen capable of displaying 260,000 colors. The browser supports WAP 2.0, and the Java support is MIDP 2.0. It also has the ability to playback MPEG-4 videos. The main body size is 48 x 25 x 100 (W x D x H), and it weighs 125g. The continuous talk time is 230 minutes, and the continuous idle time is 230 hours. The only body color is silver.
