Sharp will begin sales of the 3-in-1 HDD/DVD/VHS "DV-HRW35" recorder from 15 November. It will have no fixed retail price but the street price is expected to be approximately 90,000 yen.
The recorder combines a 120GB HDD/DVD-RW recorder with a VHS video deck. In addition to DVD-R/RW recording and playback, playback of DVD+R/RW discs will also be possible.
The recording mode can be set using 4 preset modes - Fine (high quality) / SP (standard) / LP (2x) / EP (3x) - or manually set at a level between the Fine and EP modes (32 steps). The recorder is equipped with one BS analog tuner and two terrestrial analog tuners. Simultaneous recording to the HDD & VHS or the DVD & VHS will be possible.
Dubbing will be possible between the HDD, DVD and VHS. When dubbing from the HDD to DVD, a "Just Dubbing" function will automatically adjust the bitrate to fit the DVD free space. For VHS-to-HDD/DVD dubbing, the recording image quality can be improved using Digital NR and TBC circuitry. Recordings can be programmed using G-Code (up to 8/year for video or 32/year for HDD/DVD).
Available inputs are 2 x s-video, 2 x composite video and 2 x analog audio. HDD/DVD-specific outputs are 1 x D2 terminal, 1 x s-video, 1 x analog audio and 1 x optical audio. Other other outputs are 1 x composite video and 1 x analog audio. Power consumption is 40W (standby 0.6W). External dimensions are 430 x 346-377 x 100 mm (WxDxH) and weight is approximately 7.2 kg.
