This seems a bit odd considering we just posted about a 5MP camera phone from Samsung, but here it is anyway.
This Mitsubishi camera module has a 4MP CCD.
Mitsubishi Electric announced on the 19th that they will begin sample shipments of their "CM051," a 4MP CCD camera module with autofocus functions. The CM051 is a part intended for use as the camera section in mobile devices such as cellular phones. According to Mitsubishi Electric, this is "the industry's first" 4MP CCD camera module with an autofocus function. Sample shipments will begin on November 10th, and the price is 21,000 yen.
Consumer-level mass produced devices containing the module are expected to begin product in March of 2005, with monthly output numbers of around 700,000 units. As for cellular phones actually containing the camera module, "April 2005 at the earliest, depending on the orders." (PR Department)
The CM051 is 4MP, giving it a maximum recording resolution of 2304 x 1728 dots. It can record 640 x 480 movies at 30fps, and can also record 4MP size (1280 x 1024) images at a rate of 7.5 frames per second. The power consumption is 580mW, and the module weighs 3.0g. Furthermore, the specifications may vary when it goes into mass production.
