Fujitsu Research presented their new LCD technology, likely aimed at PDAs, which features resolution 3 times higher than anything before it.
This new high-response color LCD system employs the Field Sequential Color (FSC) system. Until now, for LCDs to have color, the RGB channels each needed one seperate pixel (i.e. one pixel red, one green, and one blue). Fujitsu has developed technology to allow one pixel to display those three colors. As a result, the response time of the screen has multiplied about 100 times, shortening it to 0.3 milliseconds. Utilization of the technique effectively allows for three times the resolution in the same surface space, and also drastically increases the clearness of the image.
"We are still looking into making this a manufactured product. Depending on what we hear from other companies, we would like to continue supporting this technology," says Fujitsu Public Relations. Fujitsu plans on exhibiting a 4 inch screen with a resolution of 800x600 pixels at their upcoming "Fujitsu Solutions Forum 2003", beginning July 16th.

Interpreter Notes:
What's more to say, other than "AWESOME!?" I'm using a 17" LCD right now with a resolution of 1280x1024. Three times that would be 3840x3072!!! That'd be...uhh... overdoing it. I think Fujitsu is making the right move aiming the technololgy at mobile applications.
