Hitachi have added the "Prius K" series to their notebook computer model line-up. The "Prius Air Note K" and "Prius Note K" feature upgraded optical and hard drives while the "PriusGear K" is a low-spec alternative to the previously released "PriusGear GN75KT" available in white.
Hitachi will begin sales of a new notebook model series, the "Prius K" series, from 23 October. The notebooks will have no set retail price.

The "Prius Air Note K" series will include a newly-designed TV tuner with MPEG-2 hardware encoding. Model "AN37KT" will go on sale from 6 November at an estimated street price of 210,000 yen.
Features of the installed original "Prius Air View" software include keyword-based TV programming, direct recording to DVD-RAM/+RW, program admin and digital photo management. The "Prius Air Note K" also features a 1024x768 (XGA) 15" SuperRasterView LCD display with 20% increased brightness and low-reflectivity coating.
Main specifications of the "Prius Air Note K" are Celeron M 330 (1.40 GHz) CPU, 256MB memory (Max 768 MB), 80GB HDD, Intel 855GME chipset (internal video) and DVD Super-Multi drive. Installed software is Windows XP Home Edition (SP2) and Office Personal Edition 2003.
Interfaces include USB2.0 x 4, IEEE1394 x 1, Gigabit Ethernet, Type 2 PC Card slot x 2, SD Card/MMC/Memory Stick/ Memory Stick PRO card slot, VGA connector, composite video input, S-video input/output, modem and others.
The notebook is 330 x 275 x 45 mm (WxDxH) and weighs 3.4kg. Battery life of the lithium-ion battery is approximately 2.1 hrs according to the JEITA 1.0 standard.

The 2-spindle "Prius Note K" series will go on sale from 23 October in two specifications. The higher-spec "PN35K" will come with a DVD Super-Multi drive and 80GB HDD while the lower-spec "PN33K" has a DVD±R drive and a 60GB HDD. Respective estimated street prices for the PN35K and PN33K are approximately 180,000 yen and 170,000 yen.

In the A4-size "PriusGear K" series, the white "GN33K" will go on sale from 23 October as a lower-spec alternative to the Pentium-M 1.60GHz CPU-powered "GN75KT" announced in September. Expected street price is approximately 175,000 yen.
Main specifications are a Celeron M 320 (1.30GHz) CPU, 256MB memory (Max 768MB), 40GB HDD, Intel 855GME chipset (internal video), DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive, 1280x800 12.1" wide RasterView LCD display, Windows SP Home Edition (SP2) and Office Personal 2003.
Interfaces include USB2.0 x 2, IEEE1394 x 1, Ethernet, Type 2 PC Card slot x 1, modem, VGA connector and S-video output.
Dimensions are 296 x 215 x 29-38.5 mm (WxDxH) and weight is 1.86 kg. Life of the lithium-ion battery is 2.15 hrs (JEITA 1.0 standard).
