Being that the Japanese train system actually reliably shows up on time, this could actually be useful over there.
JR East Japan Planning will begin the offering of a new version of their "Countdown TRAIN Ver.2" iAppli, which will display the departure times of trains, on the company's i-Mode "JR Travel Navigator" route site, on September 1st.
This is an iAppli that will show to the user the departure times of trains (whether it be first train or last train). It can be used on Mova phones 505i series or above, and the FOMA 900i series. As a new function, the screen can be scrolled horizontally, and doing so will allow for the display of multiple departure times at once. For example, you could compare the timetables for multiple lines leaving from the same station, by choosing both the "Chuo Line Toward Shinjuku" and "Uramachi Line Toward Ikebukuro."
The monthly usage charge of the site is 105 yen. It can be accessed from the public menu, under "Transportation > Maps > Travel." Furthermore, a trial version of the iAppli will also be useable free of charge for two weeks.
