Good luck Motorola, though I personally don't think Japan will be so hot for your phones. You obviously can't out-feature Sharp and Fujitsu, so I think you should go for style.

NTT DoCoMo and Motorola Inc./Motorol have announced a basic agreement to jointly developed a FOMA and GSM/GPRS dual mode phone. They are proceeding with developments, aiming for a Spring 2005 release date.

The three companies will jointly develop a phone that conforms to the worldwide GSM/GPRS standards and FOMA standards. It will use ISPs such as mopera, and can use web browsing and mail features, as well as be able to read "business like" mail attachments such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF documents. Also planned is support for public wireless LAN services such as Mzone, and it should also support Bluetooth dialups and hands-free headsets. PIM functions will also be included.

Furthermore, as the OS will be Symbian OS, additional applications can be created using a development kit. DoCoMo has stated the the target audience for this phone will not be business users alone; they are also aiming it at end users.
