As you can see, there's not much news tonight. So I've got a question for you.
Japanese people must love statistics, because there's plenty available online. What I'm wondering is if you, the TechJapan visitor, would be interested in this sort of content.
There's plenty of weekly rankings available, such as: http://ranking.computernews.com/scripts/bcn/marketview/ranking/vb_bridge3.dll?VBPROG=Load_Ranking [1] and http://www.gfkjpn.co.jp/report/no1.html [2]
but there's also sales data, extended lists of product release dates, and so forth. I got an e-mail from a user in last week, and he requested some data on phone number distributions for Japanese cell carriers. What's even weirder is how it only took me like 5 minutes to find what he was looking for.
I think you get the point. Translating this information probably wouldn't take much effort on my part, but I'm just wondering if it would be useful to you guys at all. I mean I could go to town on it, by reporting on the trends of the market with Excel spreadsheets and all that, or I could just keep a static link (like something called "Statistics" on the Main Menu) with a page that I just update every week. I *guess* this would prove to be a good resource, but hey, that's what I thought about the encyclopedia too.
Your feedback and input, please. Post your comments here, e-mail them to me, AIM me, make a new thread on the forum, post in the Quickwrites, whatever....I'd just like to hear what you have to say about this.
