Ito Ham to put QR codes on ham, for some reason

I can't explain why, but Ito Ham has announced they will put QR codes o­n their ham products. I assume they mean the packaging.



Ito Ham announced that they will print QR codes o­n their products beginning in October. By recording them with a cellular phone's camera, the company's website can easily be accessed.

According to the company, they will not o­nly put the QR codes o­n their sausage and ham products, but they will also print QR codes o­n the packages of products intended to be gifts. The codes contain information to access "Overflowing with Happy Faces," the company's cellular phone page.

Contents o­n this site are numerous, such as over 100 recipes and other information useful while shipping, including a message board, and recipe submission corner. Also, video contents will be transmitted depending o­n the products from which the QR code is scanned.

Ito Ham will print QR codes o­n 70 products before year end. In the long term, they are planning to print the codes o­n 98% of their products, and are considering including the codes o­n products aimed at the global market.
