Not only does the LCD glow 63 different color combinations, the tray does too! Japan Victor Corporation (JVC) will release the "UX-QD7" DVD/MD/CD mini component system with a light-up CD/DVD tray and display, in the first part of September. Though it is officially listed as Open Price, the estimated retail price is about 53,000 yen. Its nickname is the "Lip Lap." Both silver (-S) and black (-B) models will be available. This is a mini component system that features "Rainbow Illumination," where up to 63 color combinations can be chosen in 5 color changing patterns. In addition to DVD, MD, and CD parts, it has an AM/FM tuner, and a cassette deck capable of Normal Head recording. It uses a "Clear Style" DVD/CD tray section to illuminate along with the display. When a DVD/CD is inserted, or while playing music, various colors will shine through it. Also included is a manual mode where one can choose their preferred colors to preset from the lot of 63. The DVD part supports DVD-Audio playback. It also has the "Digital Direct Progressive" circuitry that allows progressive video to be directly output, rather than being converted to interlaced video first. A 10bit/54MHz DAC is furnished for video. The audio DAC is 24bit/192kHz. Multichannel output for DVD-Audio, however, is not supported. Other features include Video CD, Audio CD, DVD-R/RW (video format), MP3, WMA, and JPEG file playback. It can write MDs from CDs at 5x, and group/title search functions are also included. The maximum output of the amplifier is 20W x 2ch. Both optical digital and analog audio inputs are furnished, as are optical digital and headphone for audio output. Video output is with D2, S-Video, or Composite. 2 "AV Compulink ports" for connection with other Victor AV products is also featured. The external dimensions are 165 x 355 x 200mm (W x D x H), and it has a weight of 5.1kg. A 3 speaker setup is used on the player - they have 1.5cm tweeters, 4cm midranges, and 11cm subwoofers. They can also use "3D Phonic" technology for representing the 5.1ch surround of DVD Video on two speakers. The external dimensions of the speakers are 140 x 204.5 x 231mm (W x D x H). They have a weight of about 2.2kg.
