Today has been a very slow day, so I just thought I'd write about this.

You may remember Dimora, Matsushita's external recording control service, so that users could set their Diga DVR devices to record certain programs with the use of only specifc iAppli for the DoCoMo phones.
Using that same network architecture, Matsushita has done something for baseball fans. You can search the contents of recorded baseball games from your phone - for example, if you wanted to see Mr. Fujisawa's 7th inning homer, you find the appropriate entry on your phone, and your DVR will play it back for you. It's more or less just an indexing service.

Matsushita Electrical Industries Corporation began offering a test version of the "Otsuma Nighter" service, intended for use with the Diga series network service, DIMORA. The service allows for users to download a special i-Appli and search through the contents of baseball games that they have recorded on their Diga series DVRs. There is no cost. Targetted by the service are 6 games with the Hanshin Tigers to be broadcasted by Sun TV, and the experiment will be limited to the Kyoto/Osaka/Kobe area.

When the said baseball game is recorded, the service allows users to search for specific hits, innings, and teams using the "Otsuma See Record Schedule Appli." In addition, one can also see the "Eye of the Reporter" reports that appear from a Daily Sports writer. To be used, users must register for the DIMORA service. Scheduling the recording of the game is also done from the "Otsuma See Record Schedule Appli."

The exclusive i-Appli will be offered on Dimora beginning on the 5th. Targetted games are the Hiroshima vs. Hanshin on the 7th and 8th, Hanshin vs. Nakabi on the 27th and 29th, and Hiroshima vs. Hanshin on the 4th and 5th of August.

Supported Diga units are the DMR-HS2, E50, E55, E60, E70V, E75V, E80H, E85H, E90H, E95H, E100H, E150V, and E200H. Supported cellular phones are the SH505i/iS, N505iS, F505iGPS, D505iS, SO505i/iS, and the FOMA F900i. Search information is sent to the Diga using infrared.

Support for the service comes from Daily Sports for providing the hit data, and Index Corporation for developing the system that manages and transfers the hit data.
