Sony will release the "MDR-Q66LW" headphones, with wind-up cables, on July 10th. The price is 3,675 yen. Silver, black, white, pink, blue, and brown will be the 6 colors available.
The MDR-Q66LW series are 48g open air headphones that hang on the ears, and have a 30mm diameter driver. The special feature of these is the "double wind-up mechanism" that allows both the neck cord and plug cord to be wound up inside the housing.
By simply pressing a button, the neck cord will be wound up. Adjusting of its length is also possible. Likewise, winding up and adjusting the plug cord is also possible. The cables are both cloth insulated.
The plug cord's conductor is OFC Ritz line, and the cord is 1m long. It uses a gold plated stereo mini plug.
Other features include a rubber tip on the end of the ear hanger, said to "make easier and more fit comfortable listening possible."
The impedence is 24 ohms. Playback frequencies are from 16Hz to 24kHz. The sensitivity is 104dB/mW.
