Green House Corporation will release the "XSIO" (pronounced "ex see oh") series of external hard drives, with all aluminium bodies, beginning in the first part of July. The prices are Open Price.
Three capacities will be available, and the estimated retail prices of the units are as follows: the 120GB "GH-HDE120C-DA" will be 22,890 yen, the 160GB "GH-HDE160C-DA" will be 26,040 yen, and finally the 300GB "GH-HDE300C-DA" will be 45,990 yen.
Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, and XP, as well as Mac OS 9.1 ~ 9.2.2, and Mac OS X 10.1.3 or above.
Since the drives use heat-radiation friendly aluminium, they are fanless. on the front panel are ventilation holes and a blue LED, and even down to the vertical stand, the external appearance of the drives is along the lines of the PowerMac G5.
The units are equipped with 1x USB 2.0 and 2x IEEE 1394 (6 pin) ports. Power is internal. Formatting at shipment time will be FAT32, and the main body size is 32 x 228 x 128mm (W x D x H) at a weight of 1.5kg.
Windows backup software and mounting software for Mac OS that allow up to 8 hard drives to be recognized as 1 virtual drive are included.
