No, it's not the MP3 that's analog, it's the watch that's analog.
One of the main drawbacks with MP3 watches is how a lot of them were gigantic and digital. They had next to no fashion value, so their use was restricted to only the die-hard MP3 listeners.
Not anymore. Thanko Limited is introducing an MP3 watch that, at first glance, is a normal analog watch. If you like to be discrete in your listening habits, this just may be the product for you.

Thanko Limited, which operates the "Rare Mono Shop" online shop, release the "Analog MP3 Watch," an analog watch shaped MP3 player, on June 16th. The coloring of the watch is available in two styles: Aqua Blue & White, and Black, with the available memory being 128MB and 256MB in each. In total, there are four products in the lineup. The price of the 128MB model is 11,800 yen, and the 256MB model is 15,800 yen. Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, and XP.

This is a watch that contains flash memory, and supports the playback of MP3 files. The main difference between this watch and the "MP3 SuperDisk Watch" or the "MP3 UltraDisk Watch" also offered by Thanko Limited is the fact that this watch uses an analog-style face. As the band is made of "high class-like" metal, Thanko Limited has said that "this product can even be offered to adults."

Furthermore, the watch is water resistant from 3 ~ 10 JIS pressure units, meaning that it can be used while watching the face, hands, or in the rain.

The watch employs a USB 1.1 interface, and supports the Storage Class. The USB port on the watch side is a round 4 pin type. A flexible USB cable is included.

Supported MP3 file bitrates are from 32kbps ~ 256kbps. Since the watch does not have an LCD display, there could be worries about accidentally turning on the player and killing the batteries, but a safety feature is included for this reason; the device can only enter MP3 mode when headphones are connected to it.

A NiMH battery is used for power. Recharging takes about 2 hours, and it can than operate for about 9 hours. Furthermore, the watch itself contains a seperate button battery, and it does not need to be changed for 4 years.
