NHJ announces fleet of new products

This includes, but is not limited to:

-MPEG-4 video camera with a 2GB capacity
-5MP digital camera
-New products in the ultra-small "Che-ez!" camera series
-1" HD audio player
-new V@MP prodcuts



NHJ Corporation held an announcement event where they announced many of their Fall/Winter 2004 products, such as the "D'zign DV-5" hard-drive camera that records to MPEG-4. Furthermore, most of the products displayed were mockups, and the prices have not yet been decided.



-"D'zign" digital camera series

The "DV-5" video camera that uses a 2GB HD for a recording media, will be released in August. Although the price has not yet been finalized, it is estimated to cost around 40,000 yen.

It features a 3MP CCD, and can not o­nly record still images, it can record 640 x 480/30fps MPEG-4 movies. Video can be recorded while viewing the scene o­n the 2" TFT LCD monitor.

An optical zoom is not featured; it has a 4x digital zoom. Connection with a PC is done by USB 2.0. It also supports the playback of MP3.

Also, the "DZ-588" 5MP digital camera will be released in July, and the "DZ-558" will be released in August. The prices are, for the DZ-588, around 30,000 yen, and the DZ-558, around 25,000 yen. Specifications shared between the devices are the CCD, 3x optical zoom, 16MB internal memory, and SD card slot, though the body design and LCD monitor size vary.



-"Che-ez ! Series" ultra-small camera

The "Che-ez! v:u2" is a MPEG-4 video camera that can also record still images. It will be released in July, and the price should be around 15,000 yen.

An aluminium case is used, and the camera features a 3MP CMOS image sensor, and can take VGA size/30fps MPEG-4 movies. It also supports the capture of JPEG images. It has an LCD monitor. The recording media is SD memory card, and a TV output jack is also furnished.

Also, the ultra-thin "Che-ez! Foxz3" digital camera will be released in September. It should cost around 15,000 yen as well.

Like the v:u2, it features a 3MP CMOS image sensor, and can record VGA size/30fps MPEG-4 and still images. The recording media is both an SD memory card and 16MB internal memory. Connection with a PC is done by USB 2.0.

The "Che-ez! Drive" adds still image/video capture and MP3 playback to 128MB/256MB USB memory drives. While the release period has not yet been decided, the price of the 128MB model should be around 20,000 yen.

It features a 3.2MP CMOS sensor, and can record still images as well as MPEG-4 video. It uses an organic EL viewfinder for capturing/confirming video and still images. It also supports the playback of MP3.



-NHJ brand 1" audio player

The "NHJ VHD-1500" is NHJ's 1" HD audio player. It is scheduled to be released in July, for the price of about 25,000 yen.

It features a 1.5GB 1" HD manufactured by Cornice, and supports the playback of MP3, WMA, and OGG. It also has a voice recording function and internal FM tuner. 40 languages are supported, and using the lithium ion battery, can play for about 18 hours.

Although it was not exhibited at the announcement event, the "NHJ VHD-2000" to be commericalized in September uses exclusive Bluetooth headphones. The price has not been decided. It has a 2GB HD, and supports the playback of WMA/MP3 files, as well as recording from the line-in. It also connects via USB 2.0.

Actual models of the MPM-201/202 to be released in July were also exhibited at the event.



-V@MP audio player

The v@mp VP-325/350 are silicon audio players that have a 1.9" color LCD screen. Both 256 and 512MB models will be made available, to be released in July. The actual price of the 256MB model is 20,000 yen.

Playback of MP3, WMA, and OGG files is supported, and using the color LCD, lyrics and JPEG images can be viewed.



At the announcement event, "Maaj Harriella," (sorry, I have no idea how to write this guy's name in English, and I'm too lazy to check the NHJ page) NHJ's representative CEO, spoke about their market strategy. He said, "NHJ focuses o­n the consumer digital appliance market; in particular portable products. We would like to concentrate o­n the release of portable media players and digital video cameras as well."

A portal site with shopping functions will also be opened in September, and video contents/accessories also plan o­n being sold.
