It's not real cheap, but you can get 802.11g and CF in one PC card slot now. It even supports a range of CF communication modules, so you could have a universal card that allows you to connect to your wireless provider when 802.11 access isn't available. IO Data Device Corporation will release the "WN-G54/CBMB," a wireless LAN card conforming to the 802.11g standard and has a CF slot, in the first part of June. It will cost 9,765 yen. The WN-G54/CBMB uses the same Cardbus shaped PC card style as the "WN-B11/CMB" 802.11b device, but the former now supports 802.11g communication. It can now not only use PHS communication cards via the CF slot (such as those from NTT DoCoMo, DDI Pocket, and KCCS), it can use certain memory cards not supported by the WN-B11/CMB, particularly MicroDrives. The main body size is 54 x 14 x 107mm (W x D x H), and the weight is 38g. 64/128bit WEP, WPA (TKIP), and WPA-PSK (TKIP) are supported on the security front, and supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, and XP. Included is the "Air Selector," which is used for changing between wireless LAN and dialup connections.
