I know my title sounds a bit apprehensive, but this player is pretty nice. It can play MPEG-1/2/4, DivX, XviD, as well as other formats, and costs about $165.

Links International Corporation will release the "DIGIHOME STATION FD151" network media player, made by Taiwan's SVEC [1], on May 28th. Although it is officially Open Price, inidicators suggest it should cost around 18,690 yen.

This is a media player used for playback of digital data stored on a PC, and the player connects via an Ethernet connection. The front panel uses a mirrored aluminium material, giving it a high class design.

It contains the "EM8551" hardware decoder chip from SigmaDesign, and supports the playback of MPEG-1/2/4, DivX, XviD, etc. video. It also supports the playback of MP3, WMA, MPEG Audio, AC3 audio formats, as well as JPEG, BMP, GIF, and PNG still images.

The "DigiHome Centre" included software is installed on the PC, and basic functions of the device can be carried out with the remote controller. Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP. It also features a PC card slot for wireless LAN.

Furnished video connectors are Component (RCA), S-Video, Composite, and DVI. The audio output is Optical/Coax Digital, as well as Analog audio.
