In the event that I ever become exceedingly rich, I will get a phone from a Japanese provider and just pay international roaming charges all the time JUST so I can use one here in the USA.
The "A1305SA" features a Japanese-English dictionary, though is actually pretty slim on other features. I suppose they need a lot of circuitry to make the thing work internationally, so they had to cut a bunch of "excess" features so typical of Japanese cell phones.

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will release the "A1305SA," a phone with a compact design and international roaming features, in the middle part of June.

The A1305SA is a phone of Sanyo make that has a compact design that your hand can easily get used to, has a 0.31MP camera, and supports the "GLOBAL PASSPORT" international roaming service. However, it does not support international data roaming service.

In addition to English-Japanese (17,300 words) and Japanese-English (7,000 words) dictionaries useful while travelling overseas, the phone also features a "Foreign Language Conversation Function" which can be used at the airport and hotel, in English, Chinese, and Korean. By simply selecting the needed phrase, the translated words will come from the speaker on the phone. Other functions include "Pastel Mail," "Photo Mixer," and "Scribble Mail." It also has a function to change all the screens of the function, such as the menu and idle wallpaper, to Donald Duck images.

The main display is a 2.1", 132 x 176, 260,000 mirror function TFT LCD. The subdisplay is a 1.1", 76 x 64, 260,000 color TFD LCD. Although the phone supports ringers and moviers (translator's note: well, that's what I'll call them...if "ringer" is "arrive+song," in Japanese than "movier" is "arrive+movie"), it does not support EZ Appli nor EZ Navi Walker. The data folder size is 5.5MB. The Japanese input system "Advanced Wnn" is used.

The size of the phone is 47 x 92 x 24mm, and it weighs 102g. Two body are available: Stripe Blue and Gradient Red, and since the outside panel has been divided into three sections, gradation colors are possible.
