Uhh...isn't that a contradiction? The 1394 Trade Association has approved the PAL (Protocol Adaptation Layer) for Wireless FireWire. With this as a foundation, it is now possible to develop products for Wireless FireWire. Wireless FireWire is uses the IEEE (Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers, Inc.) 802.15.3 MAC (Media Access Control Layer) standard, and uses the same data format, connection management, and is in the same class as IEEE 1394. With a Wireless P1394.1 bridge in place, it is also possible to connect IEEE1394 and Wireless P1394.1 devices. As for devices that can be connected, set-top boxes, HDTVs, tuners, and DVD players are currently being examined. The PAL and MAC are detached from the Physical Layer, meaning it can also be implemented to UWB.
