It seems like just yesterday, I was writing about a portable DivX/XviD player [1] with a 2.5" LCD and a 20GB hard drive. Wait...that's because I did write it just yesterday.
"System Talks" (whose motto is "VALUE YOU UP!!") answers with a player that not only plays DivX, it can record MPEG-4. And what's more? It uses a CF card slot by default - the 20GB hard drive is optional.
Pricewise, however, you will find that the mPAVIO offers a 20GB HD model for 45,000 yen, while this device is 34,000 yen without a HD at all.

System Talks Corporation will release the "MOVIE VISION AV (USB2-MVA)" portable MPEG-4 recorder on June 1st. The price is Open Price, but indicators suggest it should cost around 34,800 yen [2]. Supported operating systems are Windows 98, SE, ME, 2000, and XP.

This is portable MPEG-4 recorder/player with a Type1 CF card slot. It also supports SmartMedia, Memory Stick, and SD/MMC with use of an optional cartridge.

Also, a HD expansion slot is provided, and when used with the optional 1.8" 20GB HD unit, it can record on/play from the hard drive. The cost of this 1.8" HD unit has not yet been fixed.

Video and analog audio inputs are furnished on the unit, and recording is done in the MPEG-4 (ASF) standard. Audio is recorded using G.726. A 2.5", 320 x 240 dot LCD display is featured on the body, and video recorded on the CF/HD can be viewed.

Also, a USB 2.0 port is provided, so MPEG-4 (MP3 audio) data forwarded from a PC can be played. DivX playback is also supported. The playback of MP3 audio and JPEG files is also supported, meaning this device can also be used as an audio player, photo viewer, storage, etc.

Buttons on the front of the device control its various operations. Since a video output port is also provided, video data stored on the "MOVIE VISION AV" can be viewed on a TV.

The battery is a Lithium Ion, abd when playing MPEG-4 from the CF card, it can play for 2.5 hours - when playing from the HD, it can play for 1.5 hours. The external dimensions are 72 x 104.5 x 20.5mm (W x D x H), and the weight is 150g.
