SMK announced that they have developed a touchscreen that has "force feedback." More specifically, it can have 8 different types of "vibration" depending on input.

SMK Corporation announced that they have begun production in March of a touch panel that includes a force feedback function.

The touch panel can be vibrated when operated, which gives a sort of "click" feeling. In reaction to input from either pen or finger, it will vibrate differently according to the inputted pattern, or it can vibrate 8 different ways from a seperate controller.

Coordinate reading is done by a pressure sensetive resistance system. The shape is the same as current touch panels, and panels will be available in 2.5 - 12.1" sizes. It is planned on use in PCs, Car Navigation, PDAs, POS, etc.
