Matsushita announced that they will release a 1GB SD memory card.
Greenhouse announced the same sort of card [1]a while back, but this is Panasonic! Cmon!

Matsushita Electric Industries Corporation announced that they will release a 1GB SD memory card, the "RP-SDH01GJ1" on April 20th. The official price is "Open Price," but indicators suggest it should cost around 50,000 yen.

While a 1GB SD memory card has already been announced by companies such as Green House and SanDisk, the fact that a major company such as Matsushita is offering it signifies the regularization of the technology.

This 1GB SD memory card has 1Gbit flash memory banks, which through an independently developed miniturization process, allowed the company to fit 8 of these in an SD card. The transfer speed, 10MB/sec, is the same is the 512MB product. It also conforms SDMI standard copyright management specifications.

Finally, marking the entrance to the "GB generation," it uses a gold color scheme.
