KDDI is all set to release a new mobile phone you're supposed to give to your children. This one adds a new feature that will automatically transmit the GPS coordinates of the handset in the event that its power is turned off.

The latest from KDDI/Okinawa Cellular is the "Junior's Keitai A5520SAII," the successor to the first Junior's Keitai, the A5520SA. This new one has a feature called "Power Off GPS Mail" that will send GPS position information to a pre-registered email address in the event that the handset's power is turned off. Other improvements include the ability to sound the buzzer using the keys on the side of the handset, and "Battery Lock" that prevents the battery from being removed from the phone's body. Finally, "Complete Power Off" is to be used on planes or in hospitals.
Other safety features include "Anshin Navi" for confirming the location of the handset, "Koko Secom EZ" emergency call service, and "HELPNET Keitai" for calling fire and police departments.
For preventing your child from using the phone too much, other features such as "Junior Mode" and "Junior Settings Menu" are available, as is a remote locking function. All modern au services such as Chaku Uta, EZ Navi Walk, and Hello Messenger are supported. The handset offers infrared communication, Smart Mode, pairing, ATOK+APOT, a 2.2" 320 x 240 display, and idle time of about 290 hours.
