If you've ever complained about the screen of your portable DVD player being too small, this might be the product for you. The screen of Bluedot's new "BDP-1200" portable DVD player makes you wonder why the word "portable" still applies.
Bluedot announced the "BDP-1200" portable DVD player with a 12" LCD display on April 17th. It will be released on April 29th, and is Open Price. Storefront estimates put it at around 60,000 yen.
Called the "largest class in the industry for portable DVD players" (Bluedot), the device features a 1,150,000 pixel (800 x 480) 12" LCD display. This allows one to enjoy DVD contents on a screen size that rivals that of a notebook PC, and allows it to be used as a small LCD TV.
In addition to a card slot that supports SD memory cards, MMC, and Memory Stick, it furnishes one USB port for connecting USB memory, and supports the playback of video, image, and audio contents stored on recorded media. Supported file types include MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 SP (Simple Profile), DivX (3.11 ~ 5.2.1), XviD, JPEG, and MP3.
It offers one composite, one s-video, and one component output connector for displaying videos on the even larger screens of external devices. It also has one AV output connector, two headphone output connectors, and a coaxial output connector. There is also one AV input connector for video input.
Power is supplied by the included AC adapter, a car battery adapter, or the device's battery. Continuous playback time from this battery for DVD is about 3 hours with the LCD on, or 5 hours with the LCD off.
The size is 308 x 202 x 37mm (W x D x H), and the weight about 1.6kg. A remote control and video cords are included.
