Thanko's new product allows you to take that old iPod or iPod nano box and turn it into a speaker.
Thanko Corporation released the "Kaminari Speaker," a box-style speaker with a digital amplifier, on their "Rare Mono Shop" on March 20th. The price is 3,980 yen.
This is a speaker that will vibrate a box to produce sound with a 1.2W digital amplifier (monaural 1ch). It has a stereo mini audio input jack, so it can be used as a speaker for a device such as an iPod. The body size is made to match the box of an iPod or iPod nano, so the speaker can be covered with the outer portion of an iPod/iPod nano box and be used as a speaker.
It takes two AAA batteries, which allow for roughly 40 hours of playback. It has an auto-on function for when a device is connected to its audio input, and an auto-off when the device is removed. Volume and other operations are done on the audio player.
