Industry's highest capacity recharging NiMH batteries

Matsushita Electric Industries Corporation National Marketing Section will release the high capacity rechargeable NiMH AA battery series o­n April 1st, the "Metahi 2400." The price for a 2 battery package is 1080 yen, and a 4 battery pack for 1940 yen - the same price as the current "Metahi 2100."

In cooperation with Yuasa Corporation, a Typ.2,400mAh, min.2,230mAh battery high capacity battery was developed. When used in a digital cameras, the battery could take 15% more pictures than a camera with 2100 batteries.

The min.2,230mAh high capacity is the top in the industry, higher than Sanyo Electronics and Hitachi Maxell's Typ.2,300mAh, min.2,150mAh product.

The voltage is 1.2V, and rechargeable up to 500 times. The memory effect is small, and the battery doesn't need to be put in normal devices to be refreshed.

Four Metahi 2400 batteries and a quick charger set ("K-KJP5HC") will also be released o­n April 1st. Officially Open Price, indicators suggest the price to be around 7,000 yen. The quick charger in the set can charge up to 50% in 10 minutes, and completely charge batteries in about an hour. The Metahi 2400 batteries can also be recharged o­n existing chargers.

Also, the AAA "Metahi 800" series, with Typ.800mAh, min.750mAh, will be released at the same time. The price for two batteries will be 900 yen, and 4 battteries will be 1700 yen.
