Onkyo's new "BR-NX80" minicomponent system has an 80GB capacity, the largest in its class.
Onkyo announced on February 10th that they will release the "BR-NX80," a hard drive audio system with an 80GB capacity, on March 24th. It is Open Price, but estimated around 79,800 yen. Before being released, it will be available for pre-order a week earlier via the company's "e-onkyo.com" site.
This product contains an 80GB hard drive, and it can store music from CDs, MDs, AM/FM radio, and any obtained"ANY MUSIC" music service. It can record up as much as 3,565 hours (20,000 songs). It does not included speakers, and the company recommends the system be used with their "D-N8(B)" bookshelf-style speakers. The BR-NX80 has a rated output of 15W x 2 (0.5% THD).
It features a network support function, and not only supports "eMusic" that allows music to be downloaded without a PC, but also the automatic acquisition of album/artist information for audio CDs through the Gracenote CDDB. When recording to the hard drive, Linear PCM, ATRAC (ATRAC3, ATRAC3plus), and MP3 formats can be selected, and the unit also supports the streaming of audio files that are stored on the hard drive of a computer attached to its same network.
There is a large 4.3" LCD on the front of the unit, which allows for easy operation of its recording, editing, and song selection features. It is furnished with both a USB port and a Memory Stick slot, so songs that have been stored can easily be transferred to a digital audio player. It measures 456 x 247 x 285mm (W x H x D), and weighs about 4.6 kilograms.
