Casio will introduce no less than 14 electronic dictionaries in February. Details inside.

Casio Calculator Corporation will renew their "EX word" series of electronic dictionary, and begin releasing 14 new models from February 18th.

All of these new models contain readings through voice synthesis, and pronunciations with native voices. English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and some parts of Chinese can be read aloud with voice synthesis. Also, the contents that feature natural voices have been recorded from native pronunciation. The two internal speakers are driven by proprietary digital amplifiers, and since the power circuitry for the voice functions has been isolated, noise has been reduced.

The LCD is a 480 x 320 dot high resolution type. on the "XD-ST" series, the size is 5 inches, and on the "XD-GT" series, it is 5.5 inches. Each comes with a backlight, and two modes can be chosen: one that can display as many as 920 characters, and another with ruled lines, making it easier to see.

The case is equipped with "TAFCOT," which protects the LCD from shocks and vibration. The body features an SD card slot and internal memory, so new contents can be added. Reading text files is supported, and the internal dictionaries can be linked to any characters within these texts.
