JVC introduces "jewelry" Alneo players

There are four new models of JVC's "Alneo" audio players due out soon. The company will also introduce a portable speaker to match.

Japan Victor Corporation announced four new modles of the "Alneo" portable audio player o­n January 25th. The "XA-E105," "XA-E103," "XA-E55," and "XA-E53" will be availabe from late February. All are Open Price, but the XA-E105 (1GB, w/ FM and voice recording) is estimated at 25,000 yen, the XA-E103 (1GB) at 23,000 yen, the XA-A55 (512MB, w/ FM and voice recording) at 19,000 yen, and the XA-E53 (512MB) at 17,000 yen.

The players use a round-form design that allows users to enjoy a "jewelry sensation." The size is 73 x 17.5 x 41mm, and the weight about 39g. Color variations of the player to match the "SP-A220" portable speaker (3,500 yen) will be available.

A feature of the players is "Direct Recording," which allows for direct recording by connection with minicomponent systems; this feature is also equipped with Auto-matching Level Control (ALC). It is furnished with a Line-in jack (analog) for recording from minicomponent systems, radio cassette players, audio CDs, and so o­n. The ALC function will automatically adjust the recording levels.

Both WMA (with DRM) and MP3 playback is supported. They have an "18bit SigmaDelta D/A Converter," which is said to faithfully reproduce even the most minute nuances of audio. Neckstrap-type headphones with highly magnetic neosium magnets are included. The XA-E105 and XA-E55 also include an FM tuner and voice recording capabilities. USB Mass Storage is supported. Finally, the players are equipped with a "5 Preset Equalizer" for adjusting audio properties depending o­n the music.

An internal lithium ion battery supplies power. An AC adapter is included, and the player can also recharge via USB. o­n a full charge, it will get about 15 hours of playback.
