Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has delivered their certification documents to three new companies. They are:
  • BBMobile
  • e-Mobile
  • IPMobile
It's apparently been 12 years since any new competitors have entered the Japanese mobile phone market.

On the 10th, the cabinet minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Mr. Heizou Takenaka, delivered certification documents to three companies that have been recognized as entering the cellular phone industry.

Recognized were "BBMobile," "e-Mobile," and "IPMobile," all of whom were approved for "Base station establishment projects." The delivery ceremony was held in the office of the cabinet minister, where Mr. Takenaka delivered documents to Mr. Mago, BBMobile's representative director, Sachio Chimoto, current CEO and director of e-Mobile, and Kazuo Sugimura, representative director of IPMobile.

After delivering the documents, Mr. Takenaka said to the 2 companies' representatives, "I want you to conduct projects according to plans, and serve to improve development in mobile communications services. Also, I want you to work hard at effective usage of the EM waves."

Before the delivery ceremony was held, a chat was held with Mr. Mago, Mr. Chimoto, and Mr. Sugimura in the corridor outside the cabinet minister's office. Mr. Mago stated that "it's funny there have only been 3 companies until now," and Mr. Chimonto smiled and said "it's been 12 years since (new entrants to the domestic cellular phone market have been recognized)."

After the ceremony, Mr. Mago stated, "since we're just now getting approved, we're still establishing a business model," and amidst a smile, gave a stern look and stated that the will put his whole energy into tackling the cellular phone industry. Mr. Chimoto expressed his self-confidence and said "I'm very happy. We hope you look forward to it."
