MD isn't dead. Kenwood, JVC, and Sony all have new MD players. We'll first take a look at the "DMC-V55" and "DMC-V33" from Kenwood.
Kenwood Corporation will release two new models in the "DMC-V" series of portable MD players. Both are Open Price, where the upper level "DMC-V55" is set to be released for 20,000 yen in late October, and the lower level "DMC-V33" in late November for 18,000 yen.
The V55 will be available in Silver, Red, Blue, and Black. The V33 will be available in Pink, Blue, and Yellow.

This model uses the "NEW Clear Digital Amp," which integrates a digital amplifier with a DSP on a single chip. With a new sensing amplifier that detects error signals that come back through electricity circuits, it has stable power usage. This allows for a clearer playback, according to Kenwood.
"Volume Link EQ" will also automatically adjust the tone quality depending on the volume, allowing for high quality listening even while the player is quiet. "Lesson EQ" also corrects tonal zones associated with the English language, for practicing English using the player.
A "Disc Memory" function also allows users to store different sound modes on the player for up to 16 different discs. Resume is also supported. Internal memory also provides up to 180 seconds of skip protection.
Power is supplied by the included NiMH batteries. Playback time during SP mode is at around 45 hours, and in LP4 mode, 75 hours. The player can also take advantage of Alkaline batteries, and when doing so, the respective playback times jump to 128 hours and 207 hours.
A recharging stand with integrated stereo speakers is also included. Function keys are also on the stand, so that users can control playback and adjust the volume.
The body's external dimensions are 78 x 72.3 x 16.6mm (H x W x T)> The body weighs 63.8g. Earphones with an improved shape that help with audio quality are also included. As is a remote control with a two-line LCD display.

Most specifications on this one are the same as the V55, but the amplifier isn't the NEW Clear Digital Amp, but a standard digital amplifier. Signals are also transferred digitally within the player, giving it higher audio quality and less power consumption.
Though this one als includes a recharging stand, it doesn't have speakers. But this stand can be folded, making it easy to carry.
Other specifications remain the same, including the playback time. This one can also use AA batteries. Its size is 78 x 72.3 x 16mm (W x H x T), and it weighs 66.6g. A remote control with a clip is included.
