Just when you thought the i-Duck [1] was as odd as it gets, INAX nearly claims the throne of the bizarre by announcing a toilet that supports MP3 playback. It's also nearly $3000...

INAX Corporation will release a music playback function capable, fully automatic toilet, the "SATIS (D-218S/BW1)" on April 1st. The price is 300,000 yen.

This is a direct valve type toilet that expels water from a holding tank. The external dimensions are 415 x 635 x 535 (W x D x H). It includes a music playback function, "Relax Music," with speakers on the left and right sides of the chamber pot. It supports stereo audio playback. This is the first time an audio playback function will be featured on a shower toilet.

When a person stands before the bowl, the "human body" sensor will automatically open the toilet seat lid, and begin playing music. The 4 included songs are, "Aria in G," "Ai no Yume (Dream of Love)," "2nd Nocturne," and "Haru no Ie (Springtime House)." Songs are recorded on a SD Memory Card in the MP3 format, and the transferring of MP3 files to the SD card via PC is also supported.

In the realm of toiletry, this unit excels. It is equipped with functions such as the "Faint Light" which lights up the area at one's feet, the indoor negative ion emitting "Anti-Germ Ion Refresh Mode," and the self-flushing "Full Auto Bowl Cleaner" which will flush the bowl by simply standing up from the seat.
