Sony will stop selling the "Aibo" entertainment robot at retail stores beginning in March, and will limit sale to their online "SonyStyle" store only.
The reasoning behind this move was not disclosed, though sales of the Aibo have been a bit dull; it is suspected that these actions are being taken for cost reduction purposes.
Aibo is a self-operating robot introduced to market in 1999. It walks on four legs, and has learning capabilities. Currently on sales is the "ERS-7" of the 4th series - it is the 12th model.
Sales of the first generation "ERS-110" will also be limited to internet-only.
