Here's a nice idea from Evergreen -- instead of just wasting the space provided by a label on a CompactFlash card, they've decided to put some graphs on the cards as labels. Available graphs are Suitable Exposure, White Balance Quick Reference, and Pixel Count/Print Size. Evergreen Corporation has released 2GB, 1GB, and 512MB CompactFlash cards with Suitable Exposure and other graphs printed on them. The direct sale price of the 2GB "DNF-CF2GBS80" is 16,980 yen, the 1GB "DNF-CF1GBS80" is 7,980 yen, and the 512MB "DNF-CF512S80" is 4,980 yen. The cards have a maximum read speed of 12MB/sec, and a maximum write speed of 10MB/sec (all theoretical values). The label is the point of interest -- the 2GB features a Suitable Exposure graph, the 1GB a White Balance Quick Reference, and the 512MB a Pixel Count/Print Size graph. The maker's warranty is 1 year. The Suitable Exposure graph compares iris and shutter speed from Ev (photographic control value). You can be shown the exposure setting based on this Ev, which is equal to Lv (exposure conditions) after Bv (luminance) and Sv (Sensitivity) are added to it. Bv when outdoors is from 8 to 10, and when indoors, from 3 to 5. The Sv replaces ISO sensitivity -- ISO50 = 4, ISO100 = 5, ISO200 = 6, and ISO400 = 7. The White Balance Quick Reference is for verifying the proper white balance setting when you decide something like "I want to make my pictures taken in broad daylight appear more blue." Choose the color you want to go with, and when you set the corresponding values for "light source" and "mode" on your camera, that will be the color that will come out. The Pixel Count/Print Size graph shows the correspondence between the pixel count of your camera / its photographic mode and print size. The aim is for 200dpi printouts.
