NEC Infrontia will be releasing an "industrial PDA" that can withstand a 1.5 meter drop to concrete, features dust/water proofing, and is compatible with good stuff like RFID tags and QR codes.
NEC Infrontia Corporation announced on the 26th that they will release the Pocket@i EX industrial PDA on August 1st. Shipments will being in early September.
The Pocket@i EX is an industrial PDA intended to be used in industries such as medicine, distribution, and manufacturing. This new version of the Pocket@i EX offers a ten-keyboard, and features better capabilities necessary in an industrial environment such as an RFID tag reader, barcode/QR code scanners, and so on.
Four models will be available: 1D scanner (barcode), 2D scanner (QR code), RFID tag reader, and no scanner. The CPU is an Intel PXA27x, and it features 64MB RAM and 64MB of ROM, as well as a 240 x 320 dot (3.5") display that is capable of displaying 65,536 colors. The size is 79 x 157 x 25mm (W x D x H), and the weight is 290g (model without scanner). It uses the Windows CE 5.0 OS.
