How often have you found yourself with two SD cards, wanting to make a copy of what is on one card, but not had a PC in sight? Never? Oh, well me too.

But I take it some of you out there will appreciate a new product Matsushita demoed at their recent LUMIX announcement event. Take two SD cards, plug them into the device, and whammo, the contents are copied from one card to the other.

At the "LUMIX" announcement event held by Matsushita Electric Works on July 21st, they demonstrated a palm-sized SD memory card copy device.

This business-card sized unit features two SD memory card slots. In the left slot, you insert your SD card containing images that were recorded by a digital camera. In the right slot, you put the copy destination card. Slide the switch to the "camera mark," push the start button, and poof, the images will be copied. When you slide the switch to "ALL" (instead of "camera mark"), all files on the media, even those outside the DCIM folder, will be copied.

"When you want to quickly distribute images recorded with a digital camera, say at a wedding or the after parties, you can easily copy them without a PC with this device. If you line the switch up with 'ALL,' it also becomes easy to distribute PowerPoint presentations and other files besides image files" (Panasonic).

A single AA battery provides power. It does not have an LCD display, but it does feature both green and red LED lamps. When the power is on, the green LED will light up; when the batteries are low, the red lamp will light up. The device conveys its state through these LED lamps.

Because this is a product that supports the SD Memory Card specifications, it of course is unable to copy music/video files that are protected with Digital Rights Management technology.

While there was no announcement about a release period or price, the company did say that "we don't think it will be too long before we are able to announce it."
