SolidAlliance has gone and hit the pipe a bit too hard this time. Taking the term "ThumbDrive" too literally (which, they say, is frequently used to refer to USB memory devices in the US and other English-speaking countries), they have announced a product called the "YeahDrive."

You know there's a problem when the press release contains an exchange between a "foreign superior" and a "Japanese subordinate":

Foreign Superior: Do you have a thumbdrive?
Japanese Subordinate: Yeah!

Thus this product's name (somehow): The "YeahDrive."
Be sure to take a look at SolidAlliance's other "alternative" products [1] if you missed them.

Today, SolidAlliance announced the USB memory shaped like a thumb, the "YeahDrive," and has begun selling it via their online store, the "SolidAlliance-Store." Its price is 7,800 yen (including tax).

This product consists of USB memory with a large, model thumb attached to it. It has a 128MB capacity, and supports USB 2.0.

Regarding the commercialization of this product, SolidAlliance said: "In Europe and the USA, USB memory devices are generally called "thumb drives." This terminology isn't very familiar to Japanese people, and if it comes up between Europe/Americans and Japanese, it frequently becomes an obstacle to communication. But not only does this product help protect such 'communication follies,' you can forever visually scorch in your mind exactly why it is called a 'thumb drive' in Europe and the USA."

This product is offered in cooperation with Satou Sample, like the company's SushiDisk line of sushi-shaped [2] USB memory devices [3].
